The Eye of the Designer
When creating any formal layout for things such as a magazine or a resume, design principles must come into play in the design layout. Considering things like proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast are very important to factor in a successful design layout. Magazine Layout When looking at a magazine, the first thing that catches a person’s attention is the headline. The headline, “Siren call,” was used very creatively in The Times Magazine featuring Emma Watson. The ‘S’ in “Siren call” is huge and is the length of the full page. The curly style of text makes it look very formal. With the ‘S’ taking up the whole length of the left side of the page, the left column of the body text is wrapped around it. Somethings that could be considered a weakness of the magazine layout is the lack of kerning in the headline and how the ‘S’ is slightly cropped out of the layout.
