Hard Work Pays Off...  Since Buffalo is well known for their chicken wings, series of brochures would be effective for tourists wondering where they could try these "famous" wings and sauces. This brochure was based off of the Bar Bill Tavern in East Aurora, NY. The placement of the wings throughout the brochure gives it a balanced look and adds a little more fun to it. Instead of listing a review section on the brochure, quotes were added to stand out above other sections of the brochure, such as the main bio and type of sauces that they have to offer. Promoting safe sex has been a ongoing issue. In terms of this Safe Sex flier, what would be a more effective way to promote safe sex than to promote both prevention of STDs and pregnancy in a gender reveal. The Eye of the Designer

When creating any formal layout for things such as a magazine or a resume, design principles must come into play in the design layout. Considering things like proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast are very important to factor in a successful design layout. Magazine Layout When looking at a magazine, the first thing that catches a person’s attention is the headline. The headline, “Siren call,” was used very creatively in The Times Magazine featuring Emma Watson. The ‘S’ in “Siren call” is huge and is the length of the full page. The curly style of text makes it look very formal. With the ‘S’ taking up the whole length of the left side of the page, the left column of the body text is wrapped around it. Somethings that could be considered a weakness of the magazine layout is the lack of kerning in the headline and how the ‘S’ is slightly cropped out of the layout. According to Philosopher Fred R. Barnard, “A picture is worth a lot of words.” When people think about communication it happens to be more understood as talking and listening rather than the world that we see around us. Visual communication may seem difficult to decode for people. Although, what people don’t understand is that visually, things such as objects and facial expressions, could have much more meaning than things that people hear from a verbal conversation. Once a person becomes more aware of their surroundings, they may get a whole new take on life. Everyday, signs and symbols are in plain sight and it takes a visual communicator to understand what is being communicated. There is a lot more to visual communication than just pictures and words. If it wasn’t for visual communication, advertisers and marketing agencies wouldn’t have had such success in selling their businesses or products.
